Berlin Packaging Buys Premi: Consolidation Is Reaching the Mid-Market

Another distributor acquisition in beauty packaging. For brands buying 5,000–50,000 pieces a year, the practical question is who still answers the phone.

Berlin Packaging has expanded its beauty footprint with the acquisition of Premi, following a pattern of distributor consolidation across Europe and North America. The strategic logic is volume and geography; the operational consequence is fewer independent suppliers in the mid-market.

For a brand buying 5,000–50,000 pieces a year, consolidation usually shows up in three places: the account manager changes, the minimum order creeps up to fit the new portfolio, and the unusual request — a specific neck, a small colour run, a mixed container — becomes harder to place.

That is not an argument against distributors. It is an argument for knowing whether your supplier owns the mould and the machines, because that determines who can say yes to a small, specific order.

The questions worth asking before a consolidation reaches your account: who owns the tool, what is the real MOQ per colour, and who tests the pump on the bottle. If the answer to all three is a different company, you are three steps from the factory floor.
