Extrusion Blow: Handles, Wide Mouths and Opaque Bodies
The workhorse for HDPE. Less precise than injection, far cheaper for a big body.
How It Works
A tube of hot plastic is extruded downward, the mould closes around it and air inflates it against the walls. The neck is formed at the same time, which is why the thread is less precise than an injected one.
What It Is Good For
Detergent and household bottles, 1–5 L containers, anything with a handle, wide-mouth jars and opaque packs where clarity is not the point.
The Trade-Offs
Wall variation across the part, a visible pinch line at the base, and a thread that suits a screw cap rather than a pump that must seal. For a cosmetic pack that must look premium, EBM is usually the wrong process.
What to Send
Capacity, the closure, and whether the pack must survive a drop test filled. For a handle, send the drawing — the handle geometry decides the mould more than the body does.
Household or Bulk Pack?
Send the volume and the closure.
